We began on September 1st 2012, but don’t judge us by this short time in business. Our team of owners and instructors bring over 100 years of Aviation experience and instruction to Over The Mountain Aviation. We offer one-on-one Seaplane instruction in a Piper PA-11-90 or in your aircraft.

Aspen Flying Club's roots go back more than 35 years. As one of the oldest and largest flying clubs in the metro Denver area, we enjoy a large membership, a large fleet of well maintained aircraft, and an excellent reputation in the aviation community.

Students and licensed pilots enjoy access to all types of aircraft and instruction. We offer everything from sport pilot training, to private pilot training, to tail wheel transition training, to twin engine ratings, basic spin and aerobatic training, to cross-country, instrument and mountain flying instruction. When conditions aren't favorable for flying, students can take advantage of our state of the art, full motion flight simulator.

Our club members range from brand new students who have never set foot in an airplane, to highly experienced airline and military pilots. It's quite a mix of experience, making for a unique learning environment!

Leading Edge Flight Training is located at the Loveland airport. We provide flight instruction and air craft rental to northern Colorado. Leading Edge has fun experienced instructors who enjoy teaching. We have a variety of aircraft to suite your need. 

If you were to ask most pilots what they envision when they think of mountain flying, there’s a pretty good bet it involves a Super Cub with snowshoes strapped to the wing struts and skis on its landing gear. Instead of being thousands of feet in the air, most pilots probably envision treetops and jagged peaks flashing off the wingtip as they hug the side of a mountain valley while descending toward a backcountry airstrip in anticipation of landing. This is the kind of experience we offer.

In Colorado, we have mountain flying seminars and courses that include both ground and flight training. A typical flight departs an airport along the Front Range bound for high mountain airports like Granby, Aspen and Leadville. The airplanes used are generally not suitable for landing on anything other than asphalt or concrete, and the skills gained are really nothing more than a better understanding of mountain weather and the effects of altitude on aircraft performance. Actually flying in the mountains is something most mountain flying courses don’t do.

There is only one known place on the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains within a two-hour drive of Denver that can accommodate the kind of aircraft and flying we are talking about, and that place is located just minutes from the ski slopes of Winter Park Resort. Located at the north end of the Fraser Valley at an elevation of 8,200 feet, Granby Airport (KGNB) is an ideal base of operations located adjacent to the Continental Divide. In the winter, an average of 375 inches of snow provides an excellent playground for airplanes equipped with skis.

Because of its close proximity to Denver, Granby is the ideal location to provide backcountry, mountain, ski and tailwheel flying instruction. There is no need to fly for nearly an hour just to get to the mountains—the airplane is located on an airstrip in the mountains. In the summer, students will learn to handle the airplane on rough and uneven grass surfaces in semi-confined areas, while gaining the skills necessary to safely navigate the varied mountainous terrain. In winter, students will learn how to properly pre-heat and preflight in sub-zero temperatures; if equipped–fly a ski plane from hard-pack to deep powder, and generally get very well acquainted with cold weather and winter operations—to include survival gear and training.

Less than five air miles from Rocky Mountain National Park, the Fraser Valley is an ideal place for pilots to bring their families. Because of its resort nature, Winter Park and the Fraser Valley offer everything from mountain biking and rafting in summer to skiing, snowshoeing and hunting in winter. There are plenty of restaurants and accommodations range from bed and breakfasts to all-inclusive resorts. Academic Flight provides flight training and aerospace education based on a test pilot approach. We are located at 2825 Golf Road on John H. Batten International Airport in Racine Wisconsin. Our hangar is on the south side of the airport. Access is off off Rapids Drive. Turn north on Golf Avenue two blocks to the airport property.
