All most anyone can get a pilot license. It's surprising how many people have no idea that they can get a pilot license, believe it or not a large portion of people think that getting your pilot license is a thing you get through the military. A lot of people think that most commercial pilot flying airliners are former military pilots.
The good news is that this is not true. You see getting your pilots license is kind of like getting your drivers license, you do some training followed by some tests and then you get your license.
Another misconception is that flying an airplane is unthinkable for the common person. Well - let me tell you that YOU CAN DO IT. It is as easy as looking up a school in this directory or any other on the internet and calling them up and asking for an "Introductory Flight".
So now that you have a pilots license, must you get a job. NO, with a pilot license you can rent an airplane just like you rent a car and get yourself flying. If you are asking yourself can I take friends up, YES you can fly with other people.

Pilot Certification as explained in Wikipedia:
Pilot certification in the United States is required for an individual to act as a pilot of an aircraft. It is regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a branch of the Department of Transportation (DOT). A pilot is certificated under the authority of Parts 61 and 141 of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, also known as the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
An FAA-issued pilot certificate is evidence that an individual is duly authorized to exercise piloting privileges. The pilot certificate is one of several kinds of airman certificates issued by the FAA.
